It was hot, just below 40c when we reached town - we were looking for the caravan park on the North West side of town. The main roads in Broken Hill are partially signed, so we found ourselves asking, but where is the road to Silverton?
We pulled to the side of the street just North of the Tourist Information centre. And that is when we met Des. Des and Wendy run a little old pub (well it once had a licence) with accommodation - we did a bit of a chat and he wanted us to stay and we wanted economical, so we settled on 3 nights for $150. It was good to get out of the heat and we could just walk down town.
We had a great Pizza downtown on that first night, and the next day we did a lot of catch up stuff. Like getting the computer talking to the phone for this BLOG (which is one reason we got behind).
On the second day we visited the regional gallery and found some bits I needed because I wanted to change Gertie's oil while we had such a good place to do it.
That evening we checked out the sunset from an old mine site which was very interesting - snuck in a sketch here.
The third day we went out to Daydream mine to do an underground tour - which was an experience - then on to Silverton - which I found disappointing - my view was a sort of Malaney in the Desert - no real character - just like Paris living on dreams of yesterday.
We rode out to the view over the plains which was worthwhile.
Back in town we went out and caught a good feed and had an early night before we had to hit the road for SOUTH AUSTRALIA - at last.
