Monsoon Madness!!

Day two in Viang Vieng was a little less exciting than the first. It's currently 1am on Sunday morning and the rain has been falling since late Friday evening.

After yesterday's antics on the tube and a night out in Q bar, I was a little fragile this morning to say the least! In fact I'm now seriously running low on the Alka Seltza so I'm not sure how much longer I can stay in Viang Vieng on that basis!!

Fortunately today was a good day to have a hangover as the tubing was closed due to adverse weather conditions. Apparently some bars have been swept away with the rain. In fact we saw two locals drifting down the river on a large wooden plank which could well be part of the bar.

My one task today was to eat myself better which was a great success until beer o'clock arrived. This is how bad the weather has been, that it's driving me to drink!

I had the sense to stay clear of the buckets tonight. I went out for a bite to eat with Ross & Laura, and by the end of the night, I was watching desperados with my Irish mates (such is the randomness of travelling!)

After taking it easy tonight, I should be in good shape to move hotels tomorrow, as the one I'm currently staying at is far from the centre. this was the plan today but rain amongst other things prevented it from happening.

I really don't think I've ever witnessed rain like this, and I do hope it stops soon else surely flood warnings will be on the horizon.
