4am, Ankor What?
Wasting no time, I decided to join my new Polish companions Greg & Emily in visiting the Ankor Watt temples today.
I was crazy enough to agree to waking up at 4am to go and watch the Sunrise. Unfortunately clouds covered most of the sun therefore we didn't obtain the pictures we craved.
We travelled via tuc tuc which was a great experience. The driver would drop us off at various destinations within the temples and explain some brief history about each one.
At approximately 8am, the clouds lifted and we had bright sunshine for the remainder of our tour. This sounds fantastic & the quality of photographs certainly improved. However walking around in such temperatures put an enormous strain on my body. Fortunately I had 4.5litres of water and consumed most of it!
It can take almost a week to view the temples in full, however after a 4am start and 9 hours in sweltering heat, I think I'm all templed out now!
It was great to travel around with other people, it made the day much more enjoyable. I just hope Greg & Emily weren't planning a romantic day around the temples!!
I parted with £1.20 and acquired another t-shirt today, bargain!! I also had my first siesta of the trip. The 12 hour travelling & 4am start must have taken it's toll.
Like clockwork the heavens opened and a torrential thunderstorm broke out at 6pm (should of stayed in bed!!)
The intention was to have a wonder out but even getting to the hotel reception has drenched my new Cambodia t-shirt. I really should have stayed in bed!!
