25th Feburary
We arrived in Chiang Mai after our lovely bus drive from Bangkok in the early hours of the morning, in coach that felt like you were in London or something. The first day was just about wondering around the city and getting lost as we forgot where we lived and no it wasnt stus fault. From what we saw Chaing Mai is a very beautiful city and much quiter than bangkok. However no where in thailand would be the same if it didnt have a temple and this one is for you mr bedford. This temple greeted you to huge dragons on the entry steps, there is picture of it on the site, we named it the Bedford Temple. That night we decided to taste the local night life on the main road in chiang mai, it was great fun you hundreds of thai girls screaming at you and running over to you and hugging you, it was so cool however we found out they were after you to come into their bar, DAMN.

These three days were spent trekking in the Chiang mai jungle which was amazing. On the first day we got to ride elephants around the jungle which was so cool, i couldnt believe how clever they are they are like dogs in some way, how they can control them. On the first day we walked about 8km and it wasnt easy either, however we did get to swim in a beautiful waterfall and clean off. We arrived at our first village of the hill top tribe, this was a sight, wooden house on stilts, no running water, no eletricity, all they did was live off the land. I dont think you would understand it if you were not there. We stayed there the night which was very cold, we had a good meal, drank and played games around the fire with our guides Mr Surin and Mr Po. The second day was much the same hard walking and refreshing off in another beautiful waterfall. We then came to the largest of all the villages, with over 200 people living there, we had lunch and had a tour round the village which again was amazing, women making clothes, bags and stuff. We then set off to the village where we would spend the night at. This was probably the hardest part of the trek with very harsh terrain, however we past the time singing and talking to the rest of the group. We arrived at the last village, which was the smallest out of the lot with only two families living there but it was the nicest, it even had a volleyball net so we played a bit of football tennis which was cool. The view from this village was amazing overlooking loads of banana trees and the mountains which lie in front of us for the next day. We settled in and had another good meal, and dan got our guide to teach us the important words and sentences in thai which the guide loved.
Our final day on the trek, and Mr surin did not let us off however we did have a bamboo ride to look forward too. Towards the end of the last day every one was chatting away and got chatting to a very funny american called steve, and we knew that was not going to be last we saw of him. So to the bamboo rafting, this was so cool, it was not as easy as it looked did it dan who fell into the river and nearly took the driver with him which was well funny as you can imagin.
That night we met up with most of the group for a drink and ended up spending the night getting drunk with steve the american who ended up pulling a thai bird mmmmm...
So off to the full moon party, oh and our day travel down to koh phang nagn.
