Kununurra is a large agricultural region fed by the massive fresh water from Lake Argyle and is the gateway to the infamous Gibb River road.
Our first night we went to a Rodeo which was interesting but Jo-anne and Lynete thought it was cruel.
We did a drive and along the way we stopped at a Sandalwood factory and a rum distillery.and before arriving at Ivanhoe Crossing and stopping to watch cars crossing, one having some kids in the back and two hanging off the bumper bar whilst doing the crossing, game as there are croc warning signs. Later that day we went back there to watch the sunset and drive over the crossing and back in Warrens car.
Next day we headed to Wyndham about 100klms to the north west of Kununurra. We headed along the backroad which took us to Parry's Lagoon. The birdlife was abundant around this billabong. We spotted a couple of Eagles feeding on some road kill, and also managed to see a large gathering of Brolga's.
The town of Wyndam is a bit rundown, but the view from the lookout across the 5 rivers junction was great.
Time to re-stock and re fuel and head for El Questro on the Gibb River road.
