Manbulloo Station 1/8/15
It was quite a scenic drive from Timber Creek through to Victoria River Roadhouse, following the Victoria Highway and passing through the Stokes Ranges, typical of Sandstone escarpments we have previously seen. We chose Manbulloo as our stay which is still a working station situated on the banks of the Katherine River. It is very popular with campers, wide open spaces and shady trees, just a short drive from town approx 12km. We spent some time absorbing a minute amount of Katherine history today by visiting their comprehensive museum. It is extremely well presented and run by volunteers. The region has endured a lot over the years, bombed by the Japanese in 1941 before the Darwin bombing, regular floods consistently every 5 - 10 years and yet the region bounces back and people continue to live on the banks of the Katherine R. After being enlightened, we drove to Edith Falls to expend some energy climbing the escarpments to various levels of upper pools. Swimming is allowed here and the water was reasonably warm. The views of the falls from the top are fantastic.

Marilyn You certainly have been everywhere. Beautiful photos as well as a good story. You will have to write a book when you get home in your spare time. Keep safe and looking forward to your next blog.
Phil Nice photo, water looks inviting.
