Lorella Springs Station 20/8/15
Looking forward to some remote camping at the family owned station situated on Rosie Creek. It is surrounded by Limmen NP which was declared in 2010. After reaching Cape Crawford on the Carpentaria Highway to refuel ( Heartbreak Hotel), we tracked back a little to Savannah Way travelling some 100km across the challenging 4WD road until the station turnoff. Another 30 Km into our camp over all types of road conditions, corrugations, rocky ridges, bull dust, steep decents into dry rocky creek beds and sandy flats. The station covers a million acres as far as the coastline to Nathan River. Many 4 WD tracks have been forged on the property for campers' use taking in a number of interest points, gorges, water lily covered billabongs, rock pools, springs and Barra fishing. At this time of year most waterholes have dried up since the previous wet season was almost no existent. Steve has certainly excelled at the driving conditions and it' s always a bonus to have a 'boy scout' on hand for directions - signage is scarce out on these remote tracks!! Always good to come back to the springs at camp to dust off and relax while waiting for the fire to heat the donkey hot water showers!! At 5 pm the bell can be heard ringing across the camp alerting everyone to Happy Hour !! Photo - The Arch
