I treated myself to a cama suite bus on the trip from Santiago to BA, it was awesome - it's like flying 1st class (not that I ever have) but I had my own tv, my seat reclined into a bed, I got good dinner with wine and a whisky at bedtime - not bad really huh?
I arrived into the bus station in BA early in the morning and had to wait a couple of hours for Nick and Rob to get in. Nick and Rob were 2 of the awesome people I met at Carnival, Rob has a relative with a flat in BA and being Awesome and extremely generous he invited me to stay with them!So I met them at the bus station - greeted them in the traditional fashion - with a beer - and then we headed to the flat!
The flat was awesome - definitely the most luxurious place I've stayed on the trip, it was a massive 4 bedroom flat, situated in a really exclusive area in Palermo/Recoleta. It was extremely plush (we didn't find out until the last day but there was even a sauna, steam room, and Jacuzzi downstairs, as well as a mega gym) and really added to our time in BA because it was really nice to be able to chill out and just enjoy the surroundings - so we did that a LOT.
Eating is good in BA and we had some awesome meals including one of the best steaks I've had in Argentina - and that's saying a lot! So basically we spent the money we saved on accommodation on good food - which is a pretty good idea in my book! We also managed to have a couple of nights out (no massive surprise there) but we were relatively tame and only hit a club twice in our week in BA!
BA is a really cool city - it has an awesome feel to it, it's massive, has a population of about 12 million but doesn't feel as rushed as other big cities I've been to!We visited San Telmo on the Sunday - getting there pretty late as we'd been out the night before and we'd actually missed quite a lot of the market but we did get to see some free Tango shows in the street and in a bar so it was a pretty nice trip out nonetheless!
On the Monday night we went to a drum show called La Bomba del Tiempo and it was simply awesome - it had come very highly recommended and it didn't disappoint! It was an awesome night! Later in the week we visited the famous La Boca area - which is a very cool, artsy region of the city, all the houses are painted in different colours and lots of artists sell their work on the street! It was very cool - and we even had a wander around an art gallery!
My week in BA with Nick and Rob was so much fun, the city was great, the food was great, the company was awesome, the flat was stunning - it was just so chilled out but so much fun at the same time! And then as with all good things it had to come to an end! Rob and Nick flew off to Australia and I decided I would head to Uruguay to spend some time chilling on the beach. I spent one more day in BA where I did very little. I hadn't travelled alone since the end of Feb, and it was strange to be on my own again! This also coincided with a bank balance check which shook me up a little so I decided I would just spend the remainder of my trip as frugally as possible - doing as little as possible!
