As we left Rockhampton we crossed the Tropic of Capricorn, which means we are no longer in the tropics so the weather should cool down slightly. Strangely enough the weather seems to be getting weird, only last week it snowed in Melbourne and today it is 37 degrees. Anyway we arrived in Bundaberg which is where they make the famous Aussie Rum (I don't think they export to the UK) we did a tour of the factory which was quite interesting (even for a self confessed lager lout) and then came the tasting, our favourite was rum, ginger beer and a dash of lime which they sell in cans !!! We then headed for the Mysterious Craters which as the name suggests are very mysterious, no-one knows how they were formed. In the evening we had planned to go to Mon Repos beach to see the Loggerhead Turtles lay their eggs. It was a brilliant experience, she laid her eggs too close to the sea so we had to dig them up a move them further up the beach so there was a better chance of them hatching. They have been studying turtles here for over 50 years, so we learnt loads about their lives and habits.
