We had headed for Rockhampton because we fancied a day down on the farm Aussie style. The Myella farmstay was our choice and we opted for the 2 days and 1 night option (were we mad !!). We were picked up at 6.30am on Saturday and spent the next 1 and a half hours listening to the 4 doctors who were also on our tour ramble on about their previous visits and various medical proceedures they had subjected people to the previous week. 1st thing was to find some old clothes to wear from their extensive selection - apparently we would get dirty!! I chose a pair of jeans 2 sizes too big held up by a piece of string and a rather fetching miners shirt. Jo found some nice jeans and a shirt that would have fitted both of us at the same time. Once kitted out we were off to meet our noble steeds. Having ridden once and that was once more than Jo, I was given Barnaby to ride (apparently he had a bit of an attitude) and Jo had to be airlifted onto Gordon as he was so big, a former race horse! We spent the next 3 hours riding (walking) around the farm getting bitten to death by the mozzies. Once we had dismounted we had to remove the saddle and give the horses a good rub down and then let them loose in the paddock. The next task saw us get motorbike lessons (sorry mum !!) as it was the only other way to get around the farm. We both passed our test with flying colours after about an hour (max speed was only 20mph) We had a little ride around the farm. We were worn out after a hard day and were asleep soon after dinner. It was an early start next day as we had to round the horses up before we could go out riding. I rode Barnaby again and I must say I was winning the battle of wills - we trotted, jumped over logs and did figure 8 turns. Jo rode Whisky, a horse that was more suited to her height, as Gordon had a split hoof. In the afternoon I went on a 4WD tour of the farm whilst Jo milked the cows - she was a natural, I can't think why !!! Next it was back to the hotel to enjoy a perfect steak and a few beers as we had another early start with the bus to Bundaberg.
