Day 98 - Monday 7th June
Only had the morning to enjoy South America's Culinary City 2002 so headed out for a walk and enjoyed some amazing baked foods at the panaderia. Unfortunately I had to sort out the insurance for the camera which took up the rest of the time. A short walk from the hostel past a heavily armoured police truck and I was jostled into a small collectivo minibus for the 6 hour ride to San Augustín. A lot of people find that journey too rough but for me it was possibly the best ride to date. True, a bit bumpy but the scenery is mind-blowing, lush. extreme and with some incredible waterfalls. When we made it to San Augustín I headed to Casa Francois, a jungle eco hostel and parked myself up in a treehouse dorm room. After sunset over the jungle from the hammock on the balcony I ate the biggest hot dog I've ever seen and stayed up with an English rasta, a french bassist and a Chilean guitarist who were on tour around South America and staying in hostels for free...
