Day 100 - Wednesday 9th June
Left San Augustín early and took the 10 hour minibus north to Bogota. Ended up in The Cranky Croc hostel with amazing beds and managed to meet up with Felix in time to join him and his mates heading to some triphop gig that had been advertised. We expected some sort of bar somewhere but ended up being escorted into a proper auditorium and watching a Colombian experimental band. The lead singer groaned and writhed on stage before being joined by a jacked man in Lycra wearing a children's play tunnel who appeared to be dressed up as a caterpillar...he also writhed around. Really. Really. Weird. Perfect way to celebrate reaching day 100...
Day 101 - Thursday 10th June
Headed into town with Felix to buy a new computer and got driven back by a taxi driver with no legs (he used hand paddles)...Met up with Tash from Rio de Janeiro who's doing a home stay in Bogota for 6 months and made a bee line for Juan Valdez Cafe and my Venezuelan Valdez heritage. After reat local coffee we drank the night away in a really strange Cuban themed local back bar...
Day 102 - Bogota
World Cup begins!! Watched the opening game in the hostel before heading to the National Police Museum. I was one of the only people there and so got a private tour of all the Pablo Escobar memorabilia. Caught the France Uruguay game before heading to the Botera museum, a Colombian artist famous for using fat people in all his paintings, in particular his fat Mona Lisa...Grabbed a overnight bus to Salento and thankfully the three of us who were travelling at the time managed to lose a PSYCHO American called Chris...
