Up early to pack and have our last breakfast at Aigua Blava… the cases seem to be getting heavier and heavier, especially when taken down the spiral staircase!
Into our trusty Renault Scenic for the last time and off on the motorway for a couple of hours to Barcelona airport - even Miles had chickened out of driving through the Barcelona city traffic and had opted to go straight to the airport for car drop off and then let the taxi do the manipulation around the city - good decision although still rather hectic traffic around the ring road.
All successful and booked into the Le Meridien for a quick unpack before donning the walking shoes to discover the local sites. Rory led the way to the Barcelona Cathedral through Las Ramblas, tiny narrow streets littered with shops and interesting places. We walked for a few hours just discovering the new city and its architecture.
Richard hooked up with Tom for a drink while the rest of us waited in a small bar. We met up again with Rich and walked to a restaurant recommended by Adolfo - Tapas 24. The walk was very much longer than expected (we should have taxi'ed in hindsight), but that and the long wait for a table were all worthwhile when we sat to eat dinner. We sat at the bar around the kitchen and plate after plate of tapas came out for us all to share - salt and pepper squid was delicious!
A later night than planned, but that's how it happens in Spain, so it seems!
