The Stantons had a slow start to the day - awake at 9, out the door by 10:30. This was it - our last day. We breakfasted in the local food market - very rustic and Catalan in its experience! We headed off to the Picasso museum, but finally we were beaten. The queue was up to an hour to get in, the day was hot and we were tired.
We decided to leave Picasso as a reason to come back to Barcelona another day.
We split up. The girls went to look at some shops while the boys headed to the cable car. The girls, I think, had the better of it. The cable car had three separate queues totalling over an hour. Grrr. We didn't see the next queue until we'd finished the previous one. The cable car took 6-7 min. However we did see a great view back over Barcelona so all was not lost. We walked back to the hotel (30 min or so) to find the girls back and resting. After calamari we settled back and watched Le Tour on TV. Interestingly the race was heading through the Loire valley, so much to admire and remember.
Kyra, Claire and Rory headed back into Las Ramblas for a last shop! Claire had her eyes on a new bag - at E150. Maybe not!
We have dinner tonight in a local Catalan restaurant called Bohemic. A very local restaurant with little Spanish spoken, let alone English. Tomorrow are up early for a 10:30am flight to Singapore. We have 24 hours there with the Beaneys in Singapore and then home…..
It is a little ironic that there is a tiny shower this afternoon on Barcelona - barely enough to warrant an umbrella. This reminds me that we have had a tiny shower in Cheshire before the sun shone again (very Cheshire!), 2 hours of drizzle one morning in London (cleared by 11:00am) and another 2 hours of drizzle in Paris (again, gone by lunch time). I think Claire and I were rained on when cycling through the Loire region (something to cool us down)… But other than all we have seen are beautiful sunny days. How lucky are we?
Can I tempt fate? Not one cold or sniffle, not one upset tummy and not one minor injury. Well, someone did ruin Rory's favourite finger nail…

Elizabeth Nettleton Arn't you the lucky ones? Back to the real world on Sunday. Will stock up for dinner that night and breakfast but, alas, not cooked or cleared away. So very much looking forward to seeing you all - we will stay at P.B. that night and back to D.B. Monday morning. May see you briefly if school and work doesn't start till Tuesday. Great to get your blogs and look forward to hearing even more! Love to all. M.E. Grannie.
