Weaze No words to express how beautiful this sounds - apart from magical. Definitely one to return to by the sounds of it. Enjoy, take care, and much love (and safe travels). W xo
P, F, R. We are pleased but relieved that you are enjoying Aigua Blava so much. We were both worried that you might not enjoy it as much as we did, frst in 1957, then in 1960 I think, and maybe afterwards but certainly again about 10 years' ago. Of course the hotel and the area have expanded over the years, but the same family have owned it and many of the staff have handed down their jobs to their children. If you go again, even without a computer system, they always remember you and most of the guests go from year to year. But I think I have told Kyra this. We hope that the rest of your stay there was/is as successful. All well here. Jamie and co came for dinner last night. Tim, the French boy, was much more talkative though M said afterwards that she had to work hard to achieve this. The whole family will have to be hospitable when you have one to stay, and R will have to work hard to be a good guest and to talk to his host family, and in particular the boy of his own age. Robby Deans has been sacked and Ewan MacKenzie has replaced him after last Saturday's disaster. Kevin Rudd is making new announcements every hour of the day, often from a school and hugging the children. Meantime, asylum seekers are flooding onto Xmas Island, over 1,000 in one ofthree boats yesterday. But that is nothing compared to those flooding into Spain, I guess.. It's still cold and wet here. Love from both of us, .
Elizabeth Nettleton Arn't you the lucky ones? Back to the real world on Sunday. Will stock up for dinner that night and breakfast but, alas, not cooked or cleared away. So very much looking forward to seeing you all - we will stay at P.B. that night and back to D.B. Monday morning. May see you briefly if school and work doesn't start till Tuesday. Great to get your blogs and look forward to hearing even more! Love to all. M.E. Grannie.

re: Last Day in LussanRichard Nettleton We watched the Tour de France on TV last night as it sped through Beaucaire. We didn't see you, but perhaps you had been arrested by a Gendarme and were in a French prison! Incidentally the reporter on TV said that Beaucaire was founded in the 4th century B.C. Yes, B.C. It is on the site of the old Roman Road from Rome to its colony in Spain. You can always tell which roads were on the site of Roman ones because they are as straight as possible. As the earlier comments state, whilst the days are sunny and cloudless and hence quite warm, as soon as the sun drops, it gets very cold. Keep out your vests and jumpers to wear when you arrive. You will need them. We had lunch on the deck today until a kookaburra swopped down from the deck and stole one of my sandwiches! We continued lunch inside. Excitement is at fever pitch here because of the big test tonight. The Lions' supporters wearing their red clothes and lots of lions heads, 30,000 of them, are everywhere, and showing the Aust supporters how to sing. It's a great pity that there is no military band playing before the match and at half time as there always is in England. There was a crowd of 12,000 at N. Sydney Oval on Thursday evening to watch former Wallabies play former Lions. I hope you manage to watch the game somewhere. We look forward to seeing you soon after you get back. With love from P, F, R.
re: Le Tour de FranceElizabeth Nettleton Gone again - you might have to wait till you come home to hear from us......
re: Le Tour de FranceElizabeth Nettleton Iknow that my last comment didn't go so hope that this one does. What excitement to see the Tour de France tho'it's a lot of waiting for a quick glance of the riders! When we went to Charles Copeman's funeral we saw John Kransky who was a colleague of Charles years ago. He said that your house is fine and that he is looking after two others as well. Jamie's lot are coming to dinner on Tuesday inbetween going to Ann's today and to Hayman on Thursday. Wonder whether to order in pizza which seems to be the only thing French lad likes to eat? Do hope that Rory and Claire have "made up" and that you are having a happy holiday - can hardly wait to taste all the French recipes that Mere is cooking. The sun still shining so hope it keeps up till you come home in 9 days time. We look forward to seeing you all and send lots of love. M. E. or Grannie.
re: Le Tour de FranceWeaze Wow - amazing experience and fantastic photo. Cold winds due to hit later today (snowing in the snowies and 100km winds in Canberra) - but at least sun is out. Guessing you'll find somewhere to watch the test match tomorrow night - hope you've got your green and gold shirts with you. W xo
re: Le Tour de FranceWeaze Brilliant blog guys - great to hear from Rory and Claire (hoping the stress levels of all now well below where they were though this day). Take care and much love W xo
re: Mere (French for mother)Weaze Where do you get to see the Tour de France? Saw them racing around Nice last night (and Aust team won the time trial in, I think, a record time!). Lions playing here Saturday night - Welsch choir sang in Martin Place today (missed it unfortunately). Glad it's this Sat and not last (weather wise). Lots of love W xo
re: NimesWeaze How fabulously wonderful (running out of words to describe it all!) - enjoy the rest and relaxation and just soak it all in. Sun has made a return here (Monday mind you) so lovely sunny days this week. Take care and lots of love to all W xo
re: Day 2 – Mas de la BousquetteR/F/D. Most of all, you should see the Roman aqueduct at Pont du Garde which is on three levels. When are we going to get a blog from R and/or C and/or R? With love from
re: Training in FranceR/F/D There's a spectacular bridge at Millau carrying the motorway over the valley. Very modern. At the Cahors Gap, there was a battle in the last war. Note the war memorials in every village and elsewhere with the Cross of Lorraine commemorating the deaths of the resistance fighters and civilians in the Resistance killed by the Germans mainly in reprisals for attacks on the Germans. That area was the centre of the main Resistance. At Orange, there is a Roman arch on the way out to the North, and also a Roman amphitheatre. Avignon will be very busy, but is attractive and of course there is le Pont d'Avignon which doesn't go right across the Rhone but there is another pont, more modern which does. The Hiotel d'Europe is where we stayed in the market place. Good food but good cafes and bistros nearby. The Pope's palace is the big tourist attraction, but I query whether it is worth while queuing to get in. On the whole though Avignon is well worth a visit.
re: Training in FranceElilzabeth Nettleton Your P.C. from London today thank you ?Richard - our postcode is 2028 in case anyone else would like to send us another P.C. At last the sun has come out and should stay for the whole week! We saw your newest abode which looks ideal and hope you have a good rest and lovely walks. Can't wait to see many more pics and, of course, to see you all again. Love as ever. M....E. and Grannie
re: Training in FranceWeaze Great photo - guessing you're on the Champs Elysees (rather than another 'avenue' leading up to Arc de Triomphe - you all look so happy and relaxed (but Rich - what are you doing with a mobile in your hand when you have passers by to watch!!!). W xo
