Trail de los Gringos
It hit me about 10 minutes ago, walking down the sunny streets of Buenos Aires that today is my last day in South America. I´ve been on this continent now since early November had many cool experiences and met a number of great people. Traditionally the tourist trail that runs from the north to the south of the contient is called the gringo trail, the scary thing about it is that it seems to contain relatively small population of travellers who you can´t help but ocasionally bump into over and over again.
In the last weekI´ve repeatedly bumped into people who I´ve travelled much of the contient with. Other than the group of eight who had a reunion dinner in BA last week I´ve managed to run into Paul and Emma twice, once in Colonia and a second time in Montevideo whe I was trying to hail a taxi to the bus station - coincidentally they were going there too! Even scarier is Ilva who I ran into randomly in El Calafate (she was cradelling 3 bottles of red), then in El Chalten climbing down from an alpine lake, it started getting scary today when I ran into her in the mall in BA and a few hours later in the internet cafe I´m writing this from!! I think she may be stalking me! Its a small world......
Anyway I leave for Panama tomorrow and the plan there is beach, diving and seafood. I´ve got three weeks to travel from Panama city to san Jose in Costa Rica then I fly to the States again!
Farewell South America, its been a blast!
