Returning to El Calafate we ventured to a steak house for lunch. It was on the main drag and a called Rick's (a la Casablanca). I can put my hand on my heart and definitely say that the steak I have ever had. It was around an inch-and-a-half thick and five inches in diameter, served alone on a plate, no sauce, no veg no anything.......it must have been seasoned with a very subtle salt and olive oil mix and then slow cooked to appear charred on the outside and pink in the middle. In short orgasmic!!!!!! [I thought it was reasonably good]
Back to BA we managed to catchup for Sunday night dinner with eight (Katie, Lou, Em, Paul, Danni, Chook and Macca + Jo) of the 16 people I started to travell with in Quito back in early November. It was a good night and morning visiting a couple of very interesting establishments in BA.
Crossed the Rio Plata yesterday into Urugary. Stayed the night in Colonia, a nice but boring town. Spent the last day or so looking for the beer selling butcher shop that Chook told us about but to no avail. Buzz departs for Brisvegas tonight and I'm off to Montevideo!
[It's been great blogging. As I leave we are sitting in a surf club (well, a ripple club, at least) in Colonia overlooking a very brown Rio del Plata with litres of Heineken and funk tunes on the sound system waiting for our Hamberguesas with the lot. The weather is s***e so unfortunately the parade of skimpy swimsuits (hopefully the bare bum designs catch on in Australia0 is not around today but I guess you can't have everything!]
By the way we've been playing Euchre for the last few weeks and I just want to report that I have thumped Spud, with the end results being 43-28. All I can say is Buzz plied me full of liquor, got me drunk and took advantage of me!!
