Thursday Dec 6th
Official Neighbours Tour began for us at 8.25am, meaning a early wake up call. We haven't had done that since we left Christchurch in New Zealand! It was a struggle to get up after having too many lie in in the past week!
We were told that the street was being filmed for a brief scene so we had to go elsewhere first. After at least a hour drive away, we first visited the school aka Erinsborough High School. Its actually called Blackburn English Language School. It looked bit different till our tour guide added the sign with Erinsborough High School. It then looked familar!
Nearby, we stopped by at the studios where they had the sets of Carpenters Garage and Grease Monkeys Cafe. It was feeling so real that we were actually on the set, comparing to LOST Tour. We couldn't believe how small the sets were. We were hoping to see the coffee shop/Lassisters area OR at least visit the rooms that was filmed inside the houses. Unfortunately it was impossible.
After 15 mins drive, we finally arrived at the famous Ramsay Street. Again, its tiny but definately recongised the houses. We were dissapointed to not to see the action of filming but then if it did, we wouldn't be able to see the houses closely. There was a security guard about, keeping us in checks to ensure to not to bother the real neighbours. After taking so many photos of the houses, we thought that was it, time to return back to the reality.
However after a while, we realised that we weren't going back the same way to our hostel and didn't know where we were going. The tour guide stopped by at the theatre near the beach in St Kilda.
The familar face popped her head into our bus and it was Janelle. 2nd time seeing her and she don't seem to recongise us but then who can blame her after meeting too many faces?
Had another autorgraph from her, hanging around for at least 10mins before returning back to the city.
Overall, it was a good day but just dissapointed to not to see the filming or at least seeing either Dylan or Dr Karl.
Once we made our way back to the hostel, we did bit of shopping at the market for our lunch before booking ourselves into the hostel for another night.
We needed a free day (tomorrow) to work out the best way to get about, transports etc
However, a friend in Preston had a deaf friend in Sydney who is willing to take us on and show us around, meeting other deaf aussie people. She also offered that we could stay over hers if we need to. We are already looking forward to it as we wanted to meet other deaf people in Australia to see what the difference are between here and UK.
