Wednesday 26th Dec
As it was Boxing Day, we did think to visit Sydney Harbour for the famous boat race that they do annually. Unfortunately we got up too late like 11am or so, we couldn't be bothered to rush to get to Sydney for the 1pm start.
We went on the internet for a short while to book ourselves into hostel in the city of Sydney for a night so we don't have to worry about rushing to the airport for our flight to Cairns. As our flight isn't till Jan 4th, we were only booked into our current hostel till 2nd Jan so we requested to stay another night here which was all booked for us, luckily! Because of that, We were struggling to find a couple of nights available in Sydney to book so we were pleased that we managed to book extra night here and one night in Sydney!
We decided to take it easy (again!) by going onto the beach, seeing that it was very sunny with very clear blue sky! Shame that wasn't like that yesterday!
As it was so hot, Daniel decided to have a swim in the sea, more like playing with the waves! He then persuaded Lisa to have fun in the sea which she eventually joined with him. It was much more fun to fight against the waves and jumping over the waves. Lisa then had enough as the waves were winning by pushing her into the sea, causing her contact lenses to itch! Daniel continued till he was so worn out! We sunbathed to get dry as we forgotten to bring our own towels!
At one point, we saw plenty of boats passing by on the sea in the distance so we guessed that it must be the boat race that started from Sydney Harbour. So it was probably a good thing that we didn't go as it was probably not worth a hour and 15mins journey to see the boats starting off!
We returned back to the hostel, had showers, cooked big dinners for ourselves and retired by watching a comedy dvd that we borrowed from the reception called Deckchair Danny along with eating a piece of chocolate cake that we bought in the sale!
