Saturday 16th February
We saw the notice board that the hostel would need 2 staff for 1 and half hour job each, every evening for free accomodation, starting on 17th Feb.
We went to the reception and asked what kind of job it was, one was for cleaning the kitchen and one was for bus driver from 9pm-10pm. Lisa decided to take the cleaning job while Daniel was still unsure about the bus driver job.
So that meant we would get our $22 back each evening till 25th Feb as we paid for our accomodation till then, which was good for us but if Daniel take the bus driver job then it mean we would get $44 back each evening which was even better!
Few hours later, Daniel made his mind up and decided to drive a mini bus every evening. In the late afternoon, Ian the manager took him out for a test drive and showed him the route to the bus station.
When he came back from his test drive, he remained confident and was happy to drive every night.
Ian asked Daniel if he could start driving a mini bus tonight as there are few backpackers to collect from the Bus station, which Daniel was happy to drive.
Daniel - bus driver job:
9pm: take backpacker(s) to the Bus station and wait there till 10:15pm. Backpacker who booked to stay at Aussitel, Daniel would pick them up either from Premier (9:15pm) or Greyhound coach (10:05pm) and take them back to the hostel.
If backpacker haven't book for any hostel in Coffs Harbour, Daniel's job is to try and pull any interests for our hostel against other hostels.
Lisa (and Daniel) - cleaning job
10:30am, 2:30pm and 6:30pm - those times are where Lisa do the general cleaning the kitchen when it is less busy such as after breakfast, after lunch and after dinner.
* Her job is to wash the dishes (if any backpacker can't be bother to do them), dry them up and store them away.
* Empty the rubbish if the bins are full. Also as same for recycle bins.
9:30pm (Major cleaning) (Or whenever the kitchen is quiet)
* Wash the dishes, dry them up and store them away.
* Clean the worktops and sweep the floor. Also clean the tables.
* General tidy up in other room such as empty the ashtrays from the dining area outside the kitchen, any rubbish that left behind in the sitting/TV room and pool area.
Originally we were going to do that till February 25th when Lisa have booked to swim with the dolphins and then move onto Sydney. We then realised that we still can't afford to spend a long stay in Sydney if we fails to find paid jobs there before moving onto South Africa. So we spoke to the hostel and decided to stay here till March 11th, continuing our jobs for free accomodation. We also got our money back that we have paid from 16th to 25th which was very handy and decided to not to use it till Sydney to save ourselves money!
