Setting off nice and early at 0915 for our 1335 cruise as I had been warned the road gets very busy and parking at this time would be bad and it's a 40 min walk from the overflow car park.
Well just as we have found on most most of our road days the roads were virtually empty!
We passed lots of places which we decided to look at on our way back.
On arrival as we had had seen so few cArs we tried for the main car parks and found spaces easily. We had a coffee and .Russ and I and Tom walked to a short lookout of the Fford and then to a short walk along the Fford edge.
The terminal was busier. Up not heaving as I had imagined and the cruises that were leaving were certainly not full.
The weather was disapppointing as the Fford peaks were shrouded in cloud majority of the time.
Rain came and went with a biting wind, at least we had the right gear on! We did spend most of the time outside.
the Real Journey website was misleading as I had booked and paid for a Nature cruise which was supposed to be 30 mins longer than other tours. However the boat just followed the other boats which had left earlier. We also had to pay extra for the lunch boxes which I had read were included,
having said all that that it was a good time on the Fford and hRd to capture the enormity of the peaks.
On the way back up the sound road we stopped off at many places. One in particular which we back tracked to as Rob wanted to read about something we went down to the river edge.
This is a a memory I shall take away with me from New Zealand, the stunning indescribable colour of the Glacier water. It's just mesmerising.
We all spent quite quite a time here watching and filming the river.
