Sète - Day 2
“Logistics” day
Have purloined a pile of cardboard from a large waste bin (all bikes must be boxed in order to fly), we set about thinking how to get to the airport on Monday with boxed-up bikes? The airport is about 20 miles away.
- Roll up cardboard and carry it on bikes to airport (boxing up outside)?
- Get a taxi. But what if taxi is too small to get two very large boxes in?
- Train (or bus) to Béziers then (somehow) get to airport (6 miles)
- cycle to airport the day before. Lock up bikes there. Then return to Sète and get bus or taxi back to airport next day - with cardboard
In the end decided against all of the above and will,
Cycle to the airport the day before departure,
hire a white van,
put the bikes in the van and cycle back to Sète,
box up bikes,
next day put boxes in van,
drive back to airport,
drop off van &
check in.
Sorted!
Went for (yet another pre-fly) covid test
this morning (required by Boris’s gov. in addition to another 2 days after arrival). Better in France tho - gov controlled, fixed price (€50) - results emailed in six hours (compare the uk - hundreds of companies all vying to charge you as much as possible).
Cycled to beach in the afternoon.
Dinner in. On the tiny terrace.
