Today I rented the same scooter as yesterday (it was a really good ride) to see if my luck had changed in regards to finding the Northern part of the Island and the Main pier but you can probably guess how it went, now knowing how great I am at navigating...
I did however find the most beautiful deserted beach (pictures on FB, soon to come in here as well) which I had all to myself. Well, I shared it with a French couple and their kids for two seconds until they realised that the beach did not lead them to the main pier.
I stayed at the beach for a while and walked around together with all the little soldier crabs who sprinted away by the sight of me.

Had lunch at a great little restaurant called 'LaanMaye restaurant' where I had some delicious fried rice with Seafood... Yum yum.... And at this restaurant I met a really nice couple from the US, think they were on their honeymoon :-)
They told me that they chose this Island because it was secluded and not ruined by mass-turism. They also liked the fact that there were so many private beaches to chose from with no other people in sight for miles and miles.

You should NOT go to Koh Yao Yai if you only like shopping and expect bars and dance floors at every second corner. Or if you think you can participate in wild adventurous water sports.
Many would probably say that there is not a lot to do in Koh Yao Yai and they are partially right - you should however go to Koh Yao Yai if you would like to relax and enjoy a clam environment, beautiful surroundings of green hills and experience wildlife encounters with the local monkeys, lizards and birds.

Here is a list of a few things you could do at Koh Yao Yai;
- Go snorkelling
- Scuba diving (there are a few small dive shops on the Island)
- Swim at some of the beautiful secluded beaches all over the Island (find your own and keep it a secret)
- Kayaking
- Rent a scooter and discover the Island and it's inhabitants
- Take a day trip to Krabi by long-tail boat (1 hour, 200 THB)
- Take a day trip to Phuket by long-tail boat (40 min, 120 THB)
