Friday the 23rd of Oct -
Overview of yesterdays travel from Koh Yao Yai to Koh Lanta;
- woke up at 06:30 am, had a shower, ate breakfast at 07:00 am and checked out at 07:30, leaving the hotel at 07:40.
- Travelled 40 min by car from the hotel to the pier to catch a long-tail boat at 08:40 am
- Arrived at Krabi pier at 09:40 and travelled 30 min by car to Krabi bus station and the minivan did not depart the station before 11:00 am, giving me 45 min or so at the bus station (luckily I had a book to read).
- Shared a minivan with 15 other persons including luggage (Let's just say it got a bit cramped)
- Arrived at the 2nd car ferry crossing (at Koh Lanta Noi, the North Island) and had to wait 1 1/2 hours to get onboard which meant I was not at the hotel before approx 3:20 pm yesterday afternoon.
After such a long day travelling all you want to do is relax but I took a short walk down to the beach twhich was only 400 meters from the Resort and went straight back to my hotel room to rest my tired body.
Saturday the 24th -
Steaming hot and insect protein dish:
Woke up at 7 ish and had breakfast. Did my morning routine putting on sun lotion from head to toe and decided a walk in to the main town, Saladan, would do me good, after spending 7 hours or more on the road yesterday travelling to Koh Lanta from Koh Yao Yai.
4 km or so in 31 degrees with a humidity of 85 %... Yep good one Camilla.... Needless to say how I looked when I finally reaching town.
Ordered a watermelon fruit shake and a plate of fresh fruit at the first restaurant near the water and sad down at the plastic table almost steaming and legs glued to the plastic chair, my body felt like a squashed tomato - and I probably looked like one as well *red'n steaming hot, that's what they call me*.
It has been really foggy the past couple af days including my last days at Koh Yao Yai. It is unfortunate that you're not able to see the beautiful horizon and a glimpse of the nearby Islands from Saladan nor from any the restaurants on the beach but I'll manage, after all, I am so lucky and happy to be here.
I took a 'Tuk-tuk' back to the Resort (Lanta Resort) from Saladan since I had had enough of walking. It's about 50-100 THB per person for the ride depending on the driver. I know it shouldn't be more than 50 THB cause I have been here before. Once with my cousin in Dec 2013 and 2nd time with my parents back in January.
Lunchtime was spend at the Resort beach cafe listening to Techno music (not my first choice but none of the other beach restaurants or cafés were open yet). It seemed like the bar staff had a blast though ;-)
I had dinner at the main resort restaurant and it was not a success and therefore decided not to eat at that restaurant again.. Ever... I do like my meat but when you find tiny animals/insects in your food - which by the way is not included in the dish - *me thinks Me had enough protein for that day*
