Couldn't sleep last night. Tried counting the flashing lightning outside my window which lit up my room by every flash.... Thanks jetlag! I don't mind the thunderstorm and the lightning, it's actually very pretty on the night sky but I dislike not being able to sleep. It kinda makes my two remaning braincells pick a flight each time I have to make a decision and that's tiring....
I finally fell asleep at around 03:00 am but woke up 2 1/2 hour later due to an electricity breakdown, probably caused by the thunderstorm, which happens a lot in Asia. The aircon was disconnected - and cue pool of sweat - good thing that I only had cold-water taps and shower in my room ;-)
I decided that I had to sleep some more and stayed in bed until 08:00 am and then went downstairs for Breakfast. On the way back to my room I ran into a kamikaze Gecko jumping head on into the air from the 3rd floor - it apparently decided that certain death was more appealing than me saying hi.
R.I.P little fellow.
After having packed my suitcase I paid my hotel bill and was picked up by a taxi heading towards Karon Beach. Little did the poor taxi man know that he was going to try and find me a toilet since the drive took over an hour and I had been drinking a lot of water before getting into the taxi (need to stay hydrated)...
7 km from the Karon hotel I asked the taxi man with a desperate look on my face if he knew of a place where I could use the toilet but I must have been signing that I had a stomach ache cause he pulled over to a 7eleven for me to buy something. I ran into the 7eleven and asked if I could use their toilet and the only response was 'no toilet miss'.
I told the 7eleven lady that I would pay to use the toilet since I really really had to go but no such luck, my 'puppy eyes' look did not work. And I ran out to the taxi man and told him that there was no toilet and I reaaaalllyyy needed to find a toilet.
Kind Mr. Taxi man swung the taxi around and drove into the parking lot of a hospital and I thought - ooooh no, did he not understand, or did I once more not succeed in telling him that I had to pee - for a moment I was a bit worried that he would contact a doctor and have him examen me. But Mr. Taxi man pointed me in the direction of a toilet and I almost tripped over my own legs trying to get to the toilet, crossing my legs so tightly that I was afraid I would burst into tears of relief over having found a toilet. I must have had a big smile on my face when I came out because Mr. Taxi man had a huge grin on his face but no worries, the disaster had been avoided.
When we arrived at the hotel I gave him some money for his "toilet search assistance" and hoped that he would forget my little miming séance.
I have just arrived back at the hotel and have eaten what might or might not have been a preserved able. I guess I'll never find out.... Emm.. But had a nice little walk to the beach which turned out to be Kata Beach and not Karon Beach. Apparently the area is a sub-district of Karon and not actually at Karon. I'd better check the map before ordering a hotel next time but hey no worries, Kata beach is nice as well and had a filling lunch incl. drinks for only 150 THB which equals 30 DKr... Cheap and tasty :-D
