We were entertained at first, however, by a guy at Peo trying to hitch a free ride for a couple of Kms which prompted the bus conductor to get off, run after him and take the fare 'out of his face'. We had to get to Reckong Peo from Chitkul to obtain our inner line permit. As the towns we planned to visit in the Himalayas are close to the Tibetan border, the Indo-Tibetan Border police like to keep a close eye on foreigners and so require a permit. The pass had to be bought through a tourist agency and was 350Rps each for a 14 day...

So we checked out and bid adieu to the beatiful view..ahhh. Then caught the 09:00 Kalpa to Recong Peo Bus for 10Rp each and stayed in it at Peo for the trip to Chitkul - another 80RP each (95p) for the 80Km ride.
