It has been a while since we last blogged, we have been without mobile phone or internet/wi-fi. Please check out our recent stuff. The track from Kaza to Kibber went via Ki, some 25km. Seeing the Monastery lit in the evening sunset was stunning, seeing the Asian Fox glancing back at us, so near was incredible! After several photo opp. stops we saw Kibber in the distance in the evening blue sky. We crept up on the village (with 80-100 houses) and checked in at Norling GHouse, run by 2 teenage Nepalese boys! At a negotiated 400RP a night it appeared good value - as there appeared to be no choice - other than the Ghouse with an outside loo! After settling in and watching the sunset we ate there - food was good (as long as you ignore the Indian 'universal cloth' used for hand and plate drying and never washed!) Retiring to our room we felt the temperature drop rapidly. We asked for more blankets, but none was forthcoming and we wrestled all night with freezing cold and small blankets. We awoke wrecked and to a grey, cold day. After breakfast we went for a walk through Kibber and off down a track. It was drizzling slightly, with some sunny interludes. The stormy skies, sun and dramatic 5km high peaks made for some great photos. It was brown, grey and barren, we saw only a distant village across a ravine and down a very distant valley, 2 men and 5 donkeys lugging produce deep into the Himalayas. Back for lunch and the weather turned to snow and sleet! We hoped to leave the same day - but found out the bus comes in to Kibber around 18:15 but returns to Kaza at 08:30... damn. We used the blankets for warmth but it got colder, so we got 2 additional blankets from the boys. As a brainwave I filled 3 empty plastic water bottles with piping hot shower water and used them as hot water bottles - the result was two toasty tourists!! We slept soundly. Next day it was cool again - so we packed ready for the 08:30 bus - which left 08:40... back to Kaza by bus for 25Rp each....
