After another at sea day, we shouted "land ho!" as we saw Tallinn, Estonia in the distance this morning. What a beautiful sight! The olde town is walled (built in the 1200s..) and on a hill over looking the rest of the city.
This place is a true gem of the Baltic coast. The history! We stepped back inoto the Medieval times, walking the original cobblestones, snapping a million pictures of the historic buildings that all seemed to be exactly as they were in Viking days. Tallin truly opened our eyes to the quaint, smaller, capital cities of the Northern Baltic.
Our tour led us into a stunning (and seriously old!) cathedral where a string quartet serendaded us with the masters: Handel, Mozart, Bach, Beethoven... and ended with a classic: Fiddler on the Roof. For you musical fans out there, this was quite a treat for the theatre geek in us! But in all seriousness, the acoustics were incredible - the music brought us close to tears.
...and in case you wondered what kind of weather we are experiencing. Today in Tallin, the thermometre read 30 degrees!
In this area, they are also getting white nights. The sun rose at 4:15, and will set at 10:37 tonight!
We've also uploaded a few pictures. In Tallinn, there is free wi-fi city-wide! Check them out, and feel free to leave us notes from home :)
Tomorrow. Mother Russia. St. Petersburg for 2 days!
