We arrived back in Bangkok at 12 noon yesterday after a 2 hour bus ride (it even had air con this bus), and we had free time. Was going to see the grand palace but ended up falling asleep- we might go there before we fly home instead. We all went out for tea at a lovely riverside restaurant, for our last group meal. On the 7th we made our way to a raft house which was amazing. It had a bedroom, chilling area, massage area, sunbathing area, drinking area and eating area. On the raft house we could do anything really, we jumped off the top deck into the water, sat in the rings at the back as it got tugged along. We had lunch at the downstairs table and then played cards for a while. About 6 o clock we went upstairs where they gave us a sunset dinner, and we could watch the sun...

After catching the overnight train we ended up at a nice hotel in Ayutthaya. We set off on rented bikes to do a tour of the town, which was a lot of fun, apart from the crazy traffic at first. We went to Wat Chai, Wat Mahathat and Wat Phra Si San Phet, all of which are spectacular ruins of temples that the Burmese burnt down in the 15th Century. We both got slightly sunburnt on the bikes. We set off in the morning for an hour until we reached the Northern most town in Thailand but there wasn't really much to see except for the border point and some more stalls selling souvenirs. We then travelled for half an hour to the golden triangle. It is where Thailand meets Laos and Myanmar (Burma). On 2nd June we left early to start the trekking. Oh my god, the heat was the worst I have ever known. We were going up and down the mountains, from hilltribe village to village, where they gave us snacks and cooked for us. Adam loved the food, whereas I stuck to rice. After 4 and a half hours we reached our sleeping hut, which was actually a hut. We slept in mosquito nets practically on the wooden floor with no air con or fan. Was the worst nights sleep ever!!!! ...
