On 2nd June we left early to start the trekking. Oh my god, the heat was the worst I have ever known. We were going up and down the mountains, from hilltribe village to village, where they gave us snacks and cooked for us. Adam loved the food, whereas I stuck to rice. After 4 and a half hours we reached our sleeping hut, which was actually a hut. We slept in mosquito nets practically on the wooden floor with no air con or fan. Was the worst nights sleep ever!!!! Oh and we also had to shower using a bucket and cold water, which was actually a relief from walking in the 40 degree heat. Next day we walked for 3 hours, then stopped for lunch, then we walked for half an hour to the waterfall, where we all went for a swim to cool off. We then walked for another 3 hours to reach our night hut, which was a lot quieter than the last place. Today wasn't as bad as the first because it was slighly cooler and on flat ground through the valleys. On Monday we woke up and after breakfast we fed the elephants and then they took us through the jungle for 2 hours to the elephant sanctuary. We both rode on the seat on top but also rode on its back some of the way- it feels really weird!!! At the sanctuary we saw a monkey and some pythons, which Adam and I held. We then got a longtail boat back to reality of Chiang Rai town, had a warm shower and went to pizza city for tea. Yummy! Gonna have an early night tonight because were going to the golden triangle tomorrow. Speak to everyone soon, lots of love from Aime and Adam x x x x x x x
