Goodbye North Island we have throughly enjoyed our stay. Hello South Island.
Today we were up early as we had to be checked in at the ferry terminal by 7.45am. The car had to be topped up with petrol and returned to the Rental folk at the dock. It was a bit crazy there as there were no parking spaces left and no instructions as to what to do with the keys. Eventually sorted it out and boarded the Interislander Ferry.
This is as big as the cross channel ferries between England and France. The journey time is 3.5hours. It was incredibly windy but the sky was cloudless again. We sat up on the outside deck and the views were stunning. Why does green and blue look so good in sunshine. Our arrival in Picton was beautiful as we cruised through green covered islands which had secluded mini beaches.
We had to check in our bags at Wellington so devised a plan on arrival. I would stay with the rude Europeans and push and shove to collect the bags while Pete sorted out the car. It worked a treat and he was first in line for a car. We now have a Cruze made by General Motors. We hope it's big enough for our Aussie mates plus their luggage later on.
Blenheim is a bit of a nothing town, so as the temperature was a scorching 28degrees we went for a swim and sat by the pool for a couple of hours.
Tomorrow is what Pete has been waiting for - a wine tour on bikes!!
