This morning was very laid back while my mom and Hopson were writing. They have a proposal due soon. We did some laundry and I hung clothing outside for the first time. Lol New experience.
In the afternoon, my mom and I went to Dan Viljoen. It is a game reserve for all types of animals about 20-30 minutes outside the city. Once there you could either hike or drive around. We did a combination of both. Our taxi driver was extremely nice and agreed to take us on one of the roads. We saw something that looked like a water buffalo, but I'm not really sure what it was. It was lying down until I got out of the car and disturbed its peace. I turned around after closing the door and it was standing up staring at me not very far away. Lol I also saw some animals that looked like baby deer. They were lighter in color with pointier faces and very fast. I only got one picture of these. Near them was a herd of kudo. They have horse bodies but their faces are more like a deer with pointy horns going straight backward. They were a little way away from the road. As we traveled on, our taxi got stuck. Lol It is a one-way road, but we ended up having to turn around because the tires were spinning if we tried to go any further. We went back to the main road and were planning to go back to the lodge and take one of the trails, but there were turn off areas along the main road. We stopped at one and hiked up the hill. Below us was a watering hole and at least seven giraffes. J They were so cool to watch. We stayed there awhile just watching and taking pictures. It's very funny watching them try to get something off the ground. Their necks are long to reach into the trees, but they cannot reach the ground. Instead they spread their back legs out and bend their front legs. It almost looks like they are going to take a nose dive any minute. They are beautiful. We continued to hike around a little more, but didn't really see any other animals. The reserve has zebras, but didn't see any. My mom saw some boar, but I did not. On our way back we saw a few baboons. They look plain mean. Our taxi driver answered as many questions as he could and eventually started asking us about America and Pittsburgh. He had never been outside Namibia. He thought the idea of raccoons was pretty funny.
