From Christchurch we headed in towards Arthurs Pass, taking in the beautiful scenery as we made our way towards one of the best free things to do we had read about. In Craigieburn Forest Park, there is a 594m cave stream which you can walk through if you are brave enough!!! It's a one hour walk in waist deep cold water through the pitch black limestone caves, finishing with a climb up a little waterfall!!!! (Good job we had bought a new torch for the occasion else we would still be in there!!) It was definitely a highlight, as is it was something we had never done before and was an unforgettable experience, well worth slightly altering our plans for!
The next day was a little overcast, our first bad day here in NZ, but this didn't put Shane off his fishing so we headed to Lake Georgina....where it was pretty miserable....with not much rain but a whole lot of wind!!!...he has clearly become a fair weather fisherman as he didn't last that long!!! He came back in for a cuppa to defrost!!!! Then it was onwards towards our next campsite. On the way we passed the Rakaia Gorge, which is massive! A few pictures later we were back on our way to our campsite by Geraldine. The highlight of which was the plum tree in the camping area so we had dessert sorted!!!:)
