The next morning we headed south again, passing some of the playful dolphins and then checking out a river for Shane to try his luck!!! Not that we needed a catch as we have so much sea perch to keep us fed for a few days!!!...Then it was onto Christchurch where we saw the damage the earthquake has caused. It is crazy even 2 years on it looks like a bomb has hit it, with buildings missing parts and being held up with steel and containers. Loads of the city centre is still closed off, and it is clearly going to be a slow, hard road to recovery. It was very sad to see the memorials to all the 182 who died. There are some bright notes and signs of recovery around, with a funky new area in the middle called restart, where the shops are made from shipping containers!
