So we arrived into KL a day later than we had thought, happy to get there without any more dramas!! We spent our time in KL wandering around the place, taking in Chinatown and a Little India, where we had another amazing Indian meal....The highlight of our time here was going to the skybar in the evening in time to watch the sun setting whilst facing the Petronas Towers. We decided our money was better spent having a drink looking at them, rather than no drinking and heading up the towers themselves!!! You know our priorities!!!
In the middle of our stay we took a couple of days out to head to the Cameron Highlands....mainly to take a break from sweating for a few days!!!We did a sightseeing trip while we were there taking in some of the highlights....and some of the average sights....first up was a rose garden (for any of you that know Shane, he believes that if you can't eat it there is no point in growing it, so you can imagine the excitement at this stop!!!) Next up was the real highlight, a tea plantation. It was amazing seeing all the tea that was being grown there; they have to harvest it all every 3 weeks, so it's a constant process. We got to see the factory where they change it from leaves to the final product, then we sat in the amazing cafe overlooking the tea plantation and had a cup of the local brew. It really was breath taking.
From there we headed to a 'bee farm', i,e about 30 boxes all sat together at the bottom of a 5 story building, (very enterprising!!!) we bought some honeycomb from them to try, not the same honey as home but not bad. Then we went onto a butterfly and reptile 'farm'. There were some huge butterflies, mad flowers and crazy insects to keep us busy for a little while. The maddest was a leaf insect which took ages to even see. It was mad how leaf like it is...You honestly had to see it to believe it!
The last stop was the strawberry farm, not really a farm in any sense of the word, but we did have a really nice strawberry sundae there, which will go down as one of the other highlights!!
Then it was back to KL for a bit more good food, watching the first Lions game, and realising how crazy the smog can be in South East Asia, the visibility in KL changed a fair bit in the short time we were there.
Next up is Thailand.
