We headed over the boarder back into Malaysia, with the first stop being Tioman Island, for our birthday treat weekend!! After a mad rush to get the 2pm ferry, we were told it was full...so had a couple of hours to kill in Mersing before we could get the next ferry over....as we arrived a day early we headed up to the backpacker area, ABC. We managed to get there just in time to see the sunset over the sea and find somewhere to stay! It cost us €10 in total...and we know why!!! It was a little wooden shack, with a broken bed in it and we were welcomed back into it by cockroaches crawling all over our bags....not the nicest!!! Needless to say we didn't sleep very well and we got out of it as fast as possible. Before we headed down to our birthday spot we went for a nice walk over to the next village, the main motivation being there was a duty free shop there.....so we stocked up on some birthday booze!!!

From ABC we got a water taxi down to Melina Beach Resort, randomly owned by a fella from Kinsale. The resort has its own private beach, and we had a lovely room less than 10meters from it!!! So first thing we did was go for a paddle to cool down!!!

The next few days were pretty much just snorkelling on the reef just in front of the resort, relaxing and thinking about how good life is!!! We have both never had such a good birthday, both of us having a few drinks and watching the sunset from the beach on the evenings of our birthdays having spent all day in the sunshine and sea...
