The whole journey was pretty smooth and painless, from the airport we got a taxi straight to Pandangbai, which is a little beach town, with very high temperatures!!!! So first order of business was to get food, and then it was to take a dip in the very inviting ocean! We rented a mask and snorkel to share and saw a nice collection of fish, and even better than that a couple of turtles!!! One of which we got to follow on our own for about 5 minutes!!!
The next morning we were off to the Gili Islands, Gili Trawangan specifically. We had heard horror stories about the boat over, but luckily ours was on time, and also the day was pretty calm so there was nothing to worry about!
Once we landed into Gili T, what hits you first is the dirt roads, and all the horse and carts moving about the place, this is the main form of transportation on the island! You soon get used to moving aside to avoid a collision with the horses and bicycles. We had a good few days on the island, we decided to stroll around the whole island, just about managing to avoid melting, drink Bintang, we swam in the sea, visited the turtle hatchery, watched the sunset whilst enjoying a few BYO drinks, and went on a snorkelling trip. Unfortunately our trip got altered and cut short due to the slightly wild wind and waves...so we missed out on seeing the turtles, but we saw some different fish so were happy enough! Did we mention that we drank a bit of Bintang?!
