Bye Bye Wisconsin!
I am leaving for Seoul on Sunday, very early morning. So this means I only have 3 full days left! I have started to pack, but pretty soon after I started I realized I had a lot of laundry to do. Or rather, I had a lot of laundry and ironing for my mom to do haha. Better take advantage of free laundry while I can. I have also made sure I had all of my toiletries, just in case, especially since my suitcase had room. So I packed some shampoo, razors, cream, and toothpaste. I know that these things will be available in South Korea, but I wanted to utilize extra space.
I also did some shopping for American candies and things for my friends in Seoul. And this morning I practiced some basic Korean phrases through youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oe0Y0wnsVgA and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e6h5qjdU7Jg&feature=relmfu.
There is a pick up service from Incheon International Airport on the 21st and 22nd of August for KU students. All you have to do is email them with your request and your flight number. They meet you at gate F from 8 am - 10 pm, and a bus takes you to your dorm or gositel every hour. The travel time from the Incheon Airport to Seoul is 1.5-2 hours. For me, this is similar to the travel time from Milwaukee to Chicago. My flight arrives at 6 pm, so I probably won't be in my dorm until 9 or 10 pm Monday night. Then Tuesday the 23rd to Thursday the 25th there is orientation and course sign up. And the next Monday classes start.
One of the things I am wondering about is the similarities between Madison and KU. How do the two campuses compare? Is there a similar feeling of campus spirit? What kind of clubs/activities does each offer? Also, what about the courses themselves? How are they run? Their difficulties? I'll have to find out and tell you.
One of the many advantages of studying abroad is the exploration of a new city and shopping. I look forward to shopping and discovering weird and cool new foods and clothes. Makeup and hair products are great in Seoul, I've heard. I want to do a video of some of the things I find while I am there.
I wonder what the KU mascot is...
So a useful phrases I learned today are: btw, I k
Igo juseyo- give me this thing
Kimchi jom deo juseyo- Give me more Kimchi
Chogo eolmayeyo: how much is that?
Gamsahamnida-Thank you
sillyehamnida- excuse me
