Housing
I am leaving for Seoul in exactly 1 month. This time last year I had chosen South Korea as my destination and was looking at the requirements and now I am here, ready to leave. I will be applying for my visa sometime in the next week, once my acceptance package gets here!
Housing in the Korea University dorms is full, so I am looking into off-campus housing. There are many options, most of them are sort of a dorm like residence. There are many rooms on one floor, you get a room with a bed, closet, desk, and maybe a shower and bathroom. Otherwise there is a shower, bathroom, and kitchen for the whole floor to use. Most of the times there is free rice and kimchi in the kitchen. The cost of a place like this is around 300 to 600 US dollars depending on the location and amenities. Here is a list of possible places as recommended by Korea university. The currency exchange is very roughly 1000 KRW to 1 dollar. I will keep you posted once I find a place, but I am getting a little anxious in finding one...The nice thing about this is that there is no contract, just a month to month situation so even if I find something not quite to my liking I can move out the next month.
