We arrived at the Gilbert River which is a huge spanse of water but unfortunately was bone dry and it was here that we met Susan and Maurice from Victoria who would spend the next 3 nights with us and we had a lovely evening with them by their fire and enjoyed a few glasses of wine. Well after departing Karumba we started our journey into Cairns and this would take us through Black Bull Siding, Croyden and into Gilbert River for an overnight stop. Black Bull Siding was a quick stop for few pictures of the what was once a railway town and then continuing onto Croyden another Goldfield town. It is an easy drive from Normanton to Karumba 72 kms and the Brolgas are prolific along the way always in pairs and strikingly beautiful. We arrive to the friendly staff at the park and set ourselves up - the park offers lots of activities , walks, craft and bingo sessions, markets, bocce and bbq nights.
