It is an easy drive from Normanton to Karumba 72 kms and the Brolgas are prolific along the way always in pairs and strikingly beautiful.
We arrive to the friendly staff at the park and set ourselves up - the park offers lots of activities , walks, craft and bingo sessions, markets, bocce and bbq nights.
Our neighbours Louise and Alan close to their 70's are very informative and have been coming for over 13years and it is the same for most of the vanners and it is very apparent just how clicky it really is.LOL.
The weather is pretty warm and the tides are not the best, fish are not in abundance as poor rains for the past 2 years have not flooded down the rivers, bait fish are not there and so sadly the fish also are not there. Beach fishing is only bringing in catfish and boats heading out are catching Blue Nose Salmon - like what we caught in Broome.
Louise is also a master at getting the filletted fish carcasses and filleting off some amazing cuts especially when the Spanish Mackeral start to run out in deep waters and a few are caught, needless to say we had a few meals of Mackie and the freezer nicely stocked xxx thanks Louise
But the prawns are fantastic and the park cooks 2 or 3 times a day, mmmm so a few great lunches with fresh bread and a cold beer is enjoyed, glad I have my cyrovac machine with me - the freezer is stocked.
We decide that we will not stay for the 2 weeks as the weather is warm and the coast is not really what we thought we would experience and so we will head off towards Cairns and its coast, fingers crossed.
Our next pathway will take us through Croyden, Georgetown and Undarra Lava Tubes.
