We arrived at Cardwell and it was a really nice little town we wished we had of stayed here for at least one night as the coast line and townsite was very pretty and of course it had fresh Mudcrabs and Prawns for sale it was also home to the Giant Muddy, got to love Queensland for the giant everythings!!
We continued on to Taylors Beach with the plan to stay low here until school holidays had finished, but when we arrived the caravan park was a bit away from the beach which was also very tidal and we really didnt fancy staying here any longer than 2 nights. Whilst here we did check out Hinchinbrooke Lookout - shame very cloudy and view bit disappointing and also the Town of Ingham and the Tyto Wetlands area. Ingham is famous for the pub with no beer the song sung by Slim Dusty.
Leaving Taylors Beach we headed to Bushy Parker Park and Toomullah Beach both free camping sites until we could get into the Rollingstones Caravan Park which is right on the beach and a huge park on 10 hectares of land. We are unaware that the coming weekend is a public holiday in Qld so we need to move on by Friday 3rd of October as we cant extend as the locals from Townsville are migrating here.
Whilst at Rollingstone we do a day trip into Townsville to check it out and plan our stay and Magnetic Island trip. We have a great late breakfast at the Cbar looking straight at the Island.
After leaving Rollingstones we head back to Toomullah Beach for 2 nights before arriving in Townsville on the 5th.
Next journey will be Townsville and Magnetic Island.
bye for now from the Great Outdoors
