We wake up at 6h00 and by 6h50 we are leaving for our climb up to the Torres where we will hopefully be lucky and have a bit of a nice sunrise. The trek is not an easy one, even more because it is still dark outside. A clear sky and lots of stars give us hope though and we continue our road up. We arrive around 7h50 and are the first ones to see the ultimate goal of our 5-day trek from close by. The torres are surrounded by a layer of mist but are visible at least and an amazing sight to behold when the sun gives them this slighty pink and golden glow.
After about an hour, we start our descent as we still have to break up our tent and ensure we reach Hotel Las Torres before 14h00, the reason being that there is only one sole bus in low season.
We have a beautiful sunny last day and therefore enjoy the descent in a slow pace as we soon realize we will not need the predicted 3 and a half hours. Once we reach our final destination, we sink down onto the floor and enjoy an ice cold soft drink while feeling extremely proud of ourselves for having completed the 90 km hike over 5 days in the most amazing national park.
In the evening I decide not to cook but to go out for a nice meal. Zsuzsa seems to have had the exact same idea - even if we only planned to meet up the other day again - and funnily enough we end up oppossite of each other in the same restaurant: la Mesita Grande. An amazing meal with a good glass of wine and a toblerone mousse as dessert. Long live civilization!
Once I return from my meal, Omar prepared a nice cheese and chocolate plate and invites me for a tasty glass of red chilean wine (or two). I end up going to bed later than expected, but - unlike other days as I am still not the best sleeper - I fall asleep in less than 5 minutes tonight, completely exhausted of the last couple of days.
