Not a very good night so we stay in the tent a bit longer and go for a paid coffee in the Refugio after first walking up to the viewpoint of Glaciar Grey. While enjoying our hot coffee, it starts to pour down with rain and both Zsuzsa and I consider it best to wait a little bit longer - even if we are quite late to start today's trek already. In the end we only leave the camp around 11h30, but at least the weather has improved slightly and we can walk a bit faster now (still defying the strong winds though).
Today we have to back-track to the Catamaran and continue another 7,5 kilometers until free camping Italiano, being a total distance of about 20 km. Heavy winds once again push us to all sides of the tracks and constantly imbalance us due to our heavy backpacks. The hiking poles, however - that I smartly decided to start using as from today - keep me on my feet and a beautiful scenery soon makes us forget all the hard work.
Around 15h00 we arrive back at Refugio Paine Grande where we decide we can use a half an hour break (max). Being a bit warmer again we leave from our break around 15h30 for the last part of today's trek, an extremely windy hike to Campamento Italiano. Coincidence for tonight's dinner is that we have Italian Rissotto within Campamento Italiano, a welcome change to instant soup and noodles though and yet another good tip from our friend Omar.
