Skiing day! We all were already up at 7.45am, a part of me was really excited and nervous at same time seeing that I have never skied on a mountain before particularly the fact I last skied was around a couple of years ago but I admit that I was comforted by the revelation from Dominic when he said he last skied around 8 years ago! We waited for the coach which eventually arrived taking us to the cardona resort, the journey on the coach was nerve-wrecking because the coach drove up the mountains on a unsealed road with numerous of steep sharp edges and it took 1 hour from our campsite to get up to the snowy mountains. I opted to go on the beginner slopes first instead of going straight to immediate slopes to build my confidence. When us three was on the lifts to the top of the beginners slope, we could see Asher and Charlene preparing to learn skiing. We went ahead to ski down when Dominic kept falling over and skiing backwards hitting other people...Ashley and me' was looking at each other and thought to ourselves "Was Dominic serious about being experienced on skiing!?" We hurried to help him which by that time was lying on the snow with his legs up in the air! We all laughed so much because it was hilarious seeing that he last skied 8 years ago and had forgotten how to ski. Our problem occurred when Dominic got up and managed to hit a woman on a snowboard quite hard slamming into her legs therefore they became mangled, I will never forget the image in my head when Dominic face was like "help me!" with his skis crossed over bending his legs on two directions! Luckily I helped him up and told him that if he carries on like this he would hurt himself or likelihood hurt someone else dangerously so he opted to walk down the beginners slope carrying his skis. Ashley and me' continued on skiing to the bottom where we waited and waited for Dominic to emerge...we started to worry after a good 10 minutes so we went back up and looked for him. Amazingly Dominic was only around 10 metres down from where we left him looking really fed up and he kept saying he wished that he had gone for lessons instead. When he finally came down, I told him that he tried his best and just to rest as it took him a hour and half to get down whereas it only took me' and Ashley 10 minutes. Bless him. After a few rounds of skiing we all went for a lunch to fuel our energy! Dominic had eventually signed up for lessons with Charlene and Asher for the second part, I joined them for a bit seeing how they were doing, I was impressed on how well Charlene was doing being a first timer and a learner. Asher's abilities on skiing was somewhat not that great, bless him for trying so hard as he was unable to stop and the control of the skis was weak. He wanted to give up but we all protested, he eventually improved his skills on skiing but unfortunately it was not at the level to be able to ski on the beginners slope. I shall book him in for lessons back home :-) after a session of skiing on the immediate slopes, there was one particular slope I felt over whelmed as there was some bumps and Ashley even fell over as he was going too fast! Ashley decided to go to the advanced slopes which I did not know until we all finished....what a foolish thing to do for him haha. He said afterwards he nearly hit the rocks twice which could have killed him, and that he had learnt his lesson! After a long day we all opted to stay at the same campsite as Charlene was too worn out to drive to franz Josef. Dominic cooked us poached eggs and spaghetti on toast.
