Set off from Wanaka to continue our journey of a lifetime in the land full of sheep, New Zealand! Most of us were really tired after waking up at 7.30am in order for us to be at Franz Josef on time for our Sky-diving schuduled for 1.30pm. The distance from wanaka to Franz Josef would take 5 hours drive therefore the reason we set off early giving ourselves an hour spare. I had my breakfast on the bumpy start by going up and down on the mountains, i couldnt eat my breakfast at 6.30am as it was too early for me....perhaps a bad idea in the end! The scenary enroute was breath-taking because there were so many views out there regardless of bad weather and Ashley kept taking a collection of photos clicking away on his nikon camera. Once we arrived it was a bit disappointing as the weather was not exactly perfect for sky-diving....it was cloudy and foggy, i could not see top of the mountains, i recall telling my fellow travellers that i had a strong feeling that we would not be able to sky-dive and if we were allowed, i would be demanding to have my money back as i was not prepared to spend a large chuck out of my budget on a sky-diving activity which at the most i could not see the views and making it un-enjoyable....They understood and murmured in agreement. Luckily for us the sky-diving agency said it was deemed unsafe for us to continue sky-diving in the treacherous weather conditions therefore we got our money back! *smiles* but i felt deflated that we would not be sky-diving as i got really excited to jump out of a plane....We decided to leave Franz Josef and visit Ice Glaciers which was not too far. We parked the motorhome and hiked up to see what the fuss is all about concerning the ice glaciers! It was quite funny when the little flies decided to sneak in Asher's ear making him go in a frenzy jumping up and down slapping his ear! I carried Charlene on the piggy back for a bit until i got tired and dumped her haha! I thought the ice glaciers was lovely with the shape of a river full of ice, it looked like it was something out from a christmas film with these long narrow waterfall splashing down on the rocks however i was expecting more of the ice but it seemed like it had melted away or the fog covered the majority of it. Neverless we was pleased to have seen it and we disembarked to go shopping at the local supermarket for our dinner which was sausages and mash cooked by Asher! Yummy.
