10am was the time we set off to drive to Nelson from Greymouth where we decided to stop by from Franz Josef making it more easier for Charlene as it was a shorter distance for her to drive the next day. Four hours later we arrived at Nelson but not before we saw some weird things such as a windmill upside down, two cars posing as a gate entrance to a seemingly huge house...perhaps the owners have an fetish for cars?! Lastly there was one strangest petrol price stand saying Arm Leg instead of prices...hmm think it might be trying to say it costs an arm and a leg?! :-) On a bright side i did see a lovely green river with a hint of brown colour blended in flowing freely through a narrow bridge which we crossed over uneasily worrying about the weight of the motorhome leaning heavily on it. Seeing that we are still alive and i am writing this, we got over it safely! Nelson was a city named 'The art town' i understood why they called it that seeing that it was full of buildings, every one was unique, it was hard for me to see one that looked the same. We visited the cathedral which was a picture worth taking becasue of it's details and the range of different shapes it possess. I told Ashley off after he seemingly made a mockery of the church, he said he was not doing that but we resolved this issue swiftly. We had a look around the town and there was some nice shops however i found myself to be not in the mood for shopping which i am sure that some people might be shocked to hear that! We opted to go the information centre in Nelson to find out where we could camp overnight somewhere nearby, the woman who works as an receptionist said that they used to have a nearby overnight camping site but unfortunately it has closed recently due to some vandalism and the up-keep of it was not being looked after by the public. She revealed that the Nelson city council decided to close down all the means of overnight camping to avoid further problems, i felt a bit sad to hear that because it would be nice for some campers travelling through to be able to stop by overnight....it did not help that she said it was illegal if we parked our motorhome nearby so we decided to drive to Piction in the hope that we would find a lay-by on the way. We decided to go to visit the world oldest south street filled with ageing buildings which was built in 1865. A long time ago! Ashley was pleased to hear that it would never be demolished unless it was a hazard. I loved seeing these buildings because each one was in different colours and it looked really cosy to live in. Afterwards we went to the Countdown, a big chain of food shopping just like Tesco back home to buy some food and snacks! Loaded up with food, we started to drive to Piction trying to find somewhere to stop and sleep. Finally we found a lay-by nearby, around 45 minutes away from Piction meaning that we could sleep in the next morning!
