Got up at 6.30 to catch a tour bus with a few others to great wall of china which took 4 hours there and back. On the journey, i saw some real culture of beijing people such as chinese people wearing their straw hats on farming fields, once we arrived, I was surprised how high up it was and I dreaded walking up to it so I was happy that we all had to get a cable car to get up! We took a load of pictures on the excellent views from the great wall, each of us posed same style and got a group picture with it behind us. I took one picture that looked like it was from a postcard so I intend to print it off soon as I get back to home. All five of us began the unforgettable experience of walking on the great wall climbing millions of steps on the stairs! We had started from tower 6 to tower 20 as we only had three hours to do so before embarking on lunch. It was so hot and the sky was plain blue with the sun shining down on us, I felt like a lobster! Charlene and I couldn't go any further than tower 14 because we felt dehydrated and our legs was shaking so the lads continued to tower 20. Us girls just chilled out masking in the scorching hot sun and enjoying the views with our feet throbbing! :-) the lads got back and they felt so tired and Ashley face was like a pig panting! They had to climb up to tower 20 because they felt so tired, their legs was weak so they barely could walk properly! I then knew I made the right choice because I didn't want to force myself to the line of possibly collapsing seeing that it was really exhausting. We walked and climbed back to the base and took a cool way by tobogganing down to bottom, I was a bit nervous because I didn't try it before and went slowly following the signs but I looked around to my back and there was Charlene yelling at me' to go faster! Lol. Ate lunch at mr yung restaurant with other bunch of group on the tour, finally it was Chinese food on a platter with bowls filled with different kinds of food. We helped ourselves and made a conversation with dutch couple studying medicine at university in holland and were in china to experiment with Chinese herbal medicines. It was interesting to see what kinds of things that could bring foreigners like us to Beijing. We got back to the hostel after the long day of great wall, we were too tired to go out for food so stayed in the hostel cafe whilst waiting for the food we ordered previously. I was amazed that the food was remarkably nice. After a couple of hours resting and playing games, we retired to bed.
