(S) Good morning London! Today was full of traditional London sightseeing from the Changing of the Guard to a walk down the river Thames and a tour of the tower of London.
(T) The changing of the guard was great with huge crowds jostling for the best vantage points. We were lucky enough to get up to the fence and after an hour of firmly holding our position ( Sarah stood strong against some little rascals ) we saw what we came for!
From here we were off to the tower of London...
The tower of London was very interesting with all of it's history and not to mention the incredibly impressive Crown Jewels! Our Yeoman guide took us on an historical journey and managed to condense 1000yrs of British history into a highly entertaining 55minutes. The sheer scope of events to occur on and around this site is rather hard to fathom; murder, betrayal, marriage, politics, religion, military movements and most notably.......executions. Around 120 were executed outside the walls on Tower Hill with a handful having the "honour" of meeting with the axe inside the grounds, perhaps most famously was King Henry VIII's wife Anne Boleyn on what were in fact false charges!
With our impeccable timing, today was also the final stage of the Tour Of Britain cycle race, the finish line being in London. After so many late nights watching the Tour de France back home it was fantastic to see so many of those teams and riders up close through the streets of London. BONUS!
