We left Alice Springs a little later again due to having to do some mandatory shopping. We left Adam in Alice as it was his time to leave us. He was supposed to come on a day trip with us but since he was throwing up all morning we guessed he wasn't going to make it lol. We had a really weird run in with some guys at a petrol station though...(background story below now)
Last night we met a couple of guys who asked us if we wanted to buy some petrol from them in a jerry can because their car was broken. We said we'd think about it and then I said no simply because I have no idea if they are genuine or if the petrol is faulty etc. This morning we go to the petrol station and see one of them slam a car door and drive off. Apparently he had a massive go at Claudia for not buying their petrol and basically was rude to the point that he might as well have flipped her the bird when he left. I told Adam on the phone and when we came back to collect him (for the trip he was supposed to be coming on) he made them apologise. Who says chivalry is dead?! Lol.
We got on the road and Claudia and I decided we wanted to take a look at the School of Air in Alice before taking the guys to Simpsons gap in the Ranges National Park just on the outskirts of town. It was quite amazing to see how they teach children on remote stations via satellite feed and how it used to be done by radio in the old days. The boys looked incredibly bored and this was starting to wane on us just how they we trying to rush us through our trip all the time.
We got going and went to Simpsons Gap where Claudia and I proceeded to climb the trees again and then shout random things out loud to create an echo in the crevice. Tonight's camp site was going to be a pretty drive away. We planned to go and camp near to Kings Canyon and we found a free camp site.
The boys pretty much went to sleep in their tents straight after dinner, at least Bastie helped us with the washing up while we cooked a load of pasta for lunch tomorrow. Claudia and I stopped a bit later on and just laid there under the stars talking and looking at the constellations. I showed her Orion (the full constellation and not just his belt lol) and she showed me where to find the Southern Cross. It was going to be a very early start tomorrow to climb up Kings Canyon before it got too hot outside.
Us in Simpsons Gap.
